All You Need to Know About Microsoft Copilot
In an era where efficiency and innovation drive business success, Microsoft Copilot emerges as a transformative tool designed to revolutionise how we interact with Microsoft 365 apps. Think Concepts is thrilled to guide you through understanding Copilot’s capabilities and ensuring its integration enhances your workflow securely and effectively.
What is Copilot?
Copilot is essentially a digital extension of your team, seamlessly integrated within Microsoft 365 to provide intelligent, real-time assistance across a range of applications. It leverages advanced AI to simplify tasks, from composing emails to sophisticated data analysis, fundamentally changing the way we work for the better.
Copilot in Action: Empowering Your Workday
Beyond being a mere assistant, Copilot offers specific, powerful functionalities across Microsoft 365 apps, significantly enhancing productivity and efficiency. Here are some standout features:
Excel Magic: Dive deep into data analysis without the complexity. Ask Copilot to interpret data trends, perform complex calculations, or visualise data findings through charts and graphs, all with simple commands.
Email Summarisation: Tackle your inbox like never before. Copilot can sift through lengthy email threads to provide concise summaries, ensuring you grasp the main points without getting bogged down in details.
Personalised AI: Imagine a version of Copilot trained specifically on your company's data—emails, documents, chats, and more—creating a reservoir of knowledge that understands the intricacies of your operations.
What differentiates Copilot from other AI tools like ChatGPT is its ability to dive deep into your organisation’s Microsoft 365 content. Think of Copilot as having a 24/7 virtual assistant who can quickly and efficiently remember every bit of your work and whip up a summary, spreadsheet, or document quickly and efficiently.
Preparing for Microsoft 365 Copilot
Have you noticed that Copilot is now pre-installed on your Windows device? If you have Windows 10 or above, the app was added to the Windows suite of tools in March and replaced Bing Chat. You can use the free version to ask questions and get AI-generated insights.
Note: To protect your data, it’s important that you sign in with your 365 account. If you don’t, any information you use as a prompt will be available to Microsoft.
How to Enable Microsoft Copilot
To use Microsoft Copilot, you’ll need an additional license. Different types of Copilot experiences come with additional fees. The core Microsoft Copilot service (previously called Bing Chat) is free, as is Microsoft Copilot for Windows and Microsoft 365 Chat.
Copilot for Microsoft 365 has an add-on fee of $582 per user per year.
There are two more subscription types available which are more specialised, these are:
Copilot for Sales ($970.80 per user per year) - Designed for sales teams.
Copilot for Service ($970.80 per user per year) - Designed for service teams or contact centres.
These are only available if you already have an eligible business license.
Eligible Base Licenses

Microsoft 365 A3/A5 for faculty
Office 365 A3/A5 for faculty
Microsoft 365 Business Standard

Security-wise, keep in mind that Copilot will have the same level of access to files and data as individual users within your Microsoft 365 environment. This could potentially expose weak points in your permission settings and sharing structures. So, before rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot, we strongly recommend conducting a comprehensive permissions review.
